Rabbi Sanford Dresin

Rabbi Dresin currently serves as Aleph’s Director of Military programs, and stands as

Chaplain Endorser for all branches of the US military, in addition to the VA and the

Secret Service. Prior to coming to Aleph, he served for over 26 years as an active duty

Army Chaplain, retiring with the rank of Colonel.


Among his military assignments were: Assistant Corps Chaplain, Vietnam; the faculty,

US Army Chaplain School and Center; Chief of Personnel Actions, Office Chief of

Chaplains, Pentagon; Division Chaplain 2d Infantry Division, Korea; Chief of Chaplains,

7th Medical Command, Europe; and Chief of the Department of Ministry, Walter Reed

Army Medical Center. 


Rabbi Dresin was selected by the Army for a graduate program in Clinical Pastoral

Education and Psychotherapy at Yale University and is a graduate of the National

Defense University (Industrial College of the Armed Forces - ICAF), Washington, DC.

He holds four earned graduate degrees.


Among his military awards and decorations are: the Legion of Merit, two awards; the

Bronze Star, two awards; and the Meritorious Service Medal, four awards; Army

Commendation Medal, two awards. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of

the National Conference on Ministry to the Armed Forces (NCMAF). 



Rabbi Dresin is married to the former Paula Rappoport, a math teacher. They have 5

children, 19 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
